I wanna share this story of mine, on my experince with my car so far.
On a very recent note, yesterday morning i cant start the car for whatever reason- turns out it was the battery. NOT that it was spoilt but being the clueless person that i am (on cars, mind you!) i called Suzuki Assist and they were great! They informed me that a mechanic will come by at (the time of my choice) and he said,
"the mechanic's name is Ali, he will come by using a motorbike, plate numer WWW 4756. He will try and jump start your car, and then you can straight away drive your car to the nearest Suzuki centre. Seems like your battery is still under warranty, so no payment is needed for now. If there really is a need to change your battery, then they will do it at the centre, not on site.."
Wow great! Thanks so much!
So morning came and the mechanic arrived early, on the motorbike with the same number mentioned by the Suzuki dude. The mechanic, Ali (bukan nama sebenar) is the rudest and an idiot (pardon my language but he really is one and i tolerate none of that nonsense when you speak that way to me.)
Being an auditor, ive learnt the art of dealing with SO many types of people, good or bad, moody or chirpy, you know the sort. But this one, he came, he had this tone of voice and was trying to get me to change the battery and that i would need to pay RM240 for the whole thing. On site.
Contradicting to what the Suzuki dude told me.
For starters, Ali said i could go out and buy the battery water and we will check the battery again. Bongok. You naik motor pergi la beli, ni tak, thank God Zaim was at home so i used his car instead to go out and buy.
All that done, the car started just fine, he had to jump start but afterwards it was okay.
I was still upset at the fact that Ali said i was to change the battery and with his stupid tone of voice, i was even more upset. So i asked whether i still needed to change the battery, since the water has been refilled and the car started just fine, Alhamdulillah.
He said, suka hati cik la.. Suka hati la.. Saya pun da datang kan, kalau tak buat apa saya nak datang pagi2 kan..."
OMG tak boleh cakap elok sikit ke?!
I replied in d same tone, and u can tell that i was extremely pissed. HELLO i wouldnt mind if its my fault but im going through the procedure, and Ali said the first thing after he checked the battery.."oh ni air takde kena tuka rm240 bukan under warranty dah.."
In which i called back the Suzuki dude and he said..
"oh no, if we were to change it, we would NOT do it on site, and WE will determine whether you are entitled for the warranty claim or not and not the mechanic. If its customer's fault, then im sorry but you would have to pay. Whatever it is, dont pay the guy anything, Suzuki doesnt have its own mechanics so we outsource em. And of course Ali would want to change the battery, he wants to sell the product. Sure it will have a warranty about a year or so but if you were to travel far say up north or down south, and your battery encounterd a problem, then takkan nak kena balik KL baru claim kan? And if tuka dengan Suzuki, we have centres all over Malaysia.. And if you nak genuine parts, kena tuka kat Suzuki centre itself, maybe mahal sikit la dalam RM 280.. Tapi dont worry, kami akan check kereta dulu.."
o_O
Imagine my relief!!!!!!!
So i signed Ali's acknowledgement receipt and muttered thanks and drove my car to the service centre.
The outcome?
The service centre guy checked the battery, washed around the engine, and said..
"okay tu je.. Every 2-3 weeks check la battery air tu ye.."
And i did not have to pay a single cent!
Honestly i wouldnt mind paying if it really was my fault, but id want to go through the correct procedure. Genuine parts are my major concern. It would be yours too if youre the one paying for your car, insurance, and road tax!
So my darlings, please dont be cheated. Call your authorised dealer/ service centre/ insurance AAM or UniaAsia or anything...and DONT fall for those cheaters. You CAN go to any mechanics but make sure its genuine especially parts of the engine. Dont compromise your safety. Yes ajal maut di tangan Allah but berusaha for the better okay?
And my previous experince masa Zaim met with an accident...we straight away took the car for towing without consulting the insurance person/ suzuki people.
Im just thankful it wasnt Zaims fault so we didnt have to pay for anything but the place that they took my car to was not a place im comfortable with. Sure when Zaim called, he said the INSURANCE guy is there to take the car, well, turns out he is some mechanic from some workshop.
And after i called MY insurance and Suzuki people, they said that (if) you would want to claim ur insurance ud have to send in your car to UniAsia's panel. So i panicked but Alhamdulillah, everything went well.
Again, people, kalau kereta accident/ any parts not working dont simply allow your car to be towed away unnecessarily. Sure it depends on the urgency of the situation, but please be calm and contact the right people.
I know for a fact that i took my knowledge on my car for granted cause i have my brothers, my dad and (back then) a boyfriend, but hey....kena pandai jaga diri jugak okay?
Just a reminder for myself and also for you girls.. And guys? Guys tau benda2 ni so i wont include them but girls have the tendency to be so vulnerable and well, lembek. Like, omg omg beee helppp....kereta i rosak..eh eh lupa nak isi minyak....
=_=
hahahahaha
Do take care, people! You gotta know how to take care of yourself.
Much love,
Nani
